Well - at least I have the photos!

It's totally wrecked :(  !

My greenhouse from Kathryn of Templewood Miniatures has been destroyed.  Totally by accident, but very thoroughly.  It was in a partial box on the lounge beside me, and my darling husband brushed by it to kiss me goodnight as he was leaving for night duty this evening.  He stepped back and we both heard a crunch then another crunch.  Looking down I saw the remnants of my greenhouse under his foot!  He was suitably apologetic but doesn't understand how upset I am.

For ages I couldn't bring myself to look to see what damage was done.  When I finally did, things were just as bad as I feared - pretty well all of the glazing bars on the sides are broken in at least one place and pieces are missing in lots of places.  It didn't even occur to me to check the soles of Peter's sneakers before he left the house for little pieces - I was too shocked.  And it's been raining for several days so any little bits that were caught in the tread of his shoes has probably been trodden into the mud.

I have scoured the carpet thoroughly and can't even find all the pieces to fill in the breaks, .  I have found the little decorative bit that was broken off the top but there are still lots of pieces gone from the sides. The bench supports are broken off and in several pieces, and the roof has gaps in it everywhere.  I rang Peter and asked him to check his shoes but I think it's too late. And I think the damage is too extensive anyway so at the moment I can't think want to do. I am so upset and sad.

  1. Dear Sandra, An accident can happen anytime, at least your husband loves you. Some husbands leave without a goodnight kiss. You have other lovely minis to cheer you up.

  2. Oooo Sandra and I am upset and sad for you too :-( your lovely greenhouse. But, don't be mad for me writing this: stop searching for pieces that are missing, that will only make you more sad. Throw the damaged greenhouse in the bin and order a new one. Thinking of you, big hug!

  3. Oh Sandra, what a disaster. I'm so sorry for you. The first thing I thought after reading this blog is could you not make a neglected greenhouse from this one? Completely overgrown with vines and maybe a few sunflowers for finding the positive side of this. You certainly can succeed that. You are so talented.

  5. And of course you would not trade the sweet husband who kisses you goodnight for any miniature, however gorgeous... I love the idea of a neglected greenhouse, you know!!

  6. oh Sandra! I can only sympathise, but as others have said you have a wonderful treasure...your hubby. Either look to make this into an overgrown garden scene with broken down overgrown greenhouse or if it was me I'd cut my losses, bin it and order a new one reminding my darling hubby why when questioned on the spending vbg!!

  7. I can finally post a comment - yaaaaay! thank you all for your understanding and for your suggestions. I must say the idea of an overgrown garden scene with a neglected, broken greenhouse appeals and might still win out if the idea I am hatching doesn't work out..... so stay tuned vbg!
    Mini hugs
