I might not be around too often for a few days.....
I have been preparing to take a Bible study class at church this morning, and I was sitting up in bed first thing having a last look over things. When I went to get up from bed I couldn't stand up properly! It was agony when I finally managed to hobble to the ensuite, still unable to stand straight. I couldn't get back to the bedroom without Peter's help. Peter rubbed some pain cream into my back and could feel a large bulge on the spine just above the coccyx. It was too painful for him to massage it or even rub the cream in deeply.
I can sit in a lounge chair for a short while - no more than an hour, then I have to hobble back to bed and lie down for several hours. It is painful to turn over in bed and walking is agony.
Peter wanted to take me to the hospital, but frankly I wouldn't have been able to get up into our 4WD and besides, Nathan was singing a special item in the morning service today. I feel a little bit better tonight than I did this morning but I don't know whether it is the cumulative effect of the strong pain medication I am taking or it is really getting better.
Anyway, there won't be a lot of mini-ing going on until things are improved. I will see whether I can at least do something productive with the time I am up though, I can never sit and just do nothing - I am a bit hyperactive or obsessive that way!
I've had a bulging disc before and I doubt that it is the same thing again, I am sure that it is just that I am just paying the price for sitting on a chair that is the wrong height. I can never sit on a dining chair for long, and I have been using a folding chair the same height. Probably not a good idea. Hopefully by Monday it will be much better - if not I'll have an emergency treatment for it.
Oh you poor thing. I too have damage in two places in my spine and can truly sympathise with you.You have probably been to physiotherapists and other "back" specialists but have you tried acupuncture? I'm so sorry and hope you will feel better soon.

Hi Vicki, yes I've tried acupuncture for my back and for migraines, but am willing to try it again now that they have someone who does it at the centre. I am improving a tiny bit each day but still not able to sit in a car to get anywhere for a treatment.
DeleteOh Sandie, I am sorry to read this. I hope you'll feel good enough to go and have some treatment and wish you a quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteA warm hug
Hi hope you get better soon

ReplyDeleteGive it a break and don't push until you are sure it is better! Please let us know how you are doing .
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your good wishes. I am able to move a tiny bit more freely today so am trying to move as much as I can without overdoing it. Hopefully I will be able to go for a treatment in a day or so.
DeleteJust want you to know that you are influencing me while you recuperate because I'm sanding and filling and adding and filling.....
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I'm glad something positive is coming out of this time vbg! And I'm making lots of printies to go into Cockleshell Cottage and my Cottage Store (Art Shop) too so we are both being productive :) Hugs Sandie
DeleteJennifer I went looking to see what you were sanding and filling - couldn't find it! But I got sidetracked and went through your quarter scale blog from start to finish, totally fascinated. I'm sorry - I've swamped you with comments - it will take you all day to read them lol! Sorry about that, but I've finally caught up on that blog at least :) Hugs, Sandie
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your painful back Sandie...I am too in the wars, just got diagnosed to day with Bronchitis so will be just reading blogs not much else for a few days. Hugz Jazzi
ReplyDeleteOh Jazzi, do take care of yourself! Bronchitis is so nasty and can turn so easily into worse. Lots of water to drink and flush out the system, and lots of rest (sleep) in between reading those blogs and I hope you'll be back in good health very soon. Hugs, Sandie
