And here it is with the front just held in place temporarily. Isn't it delightful?
Moving on to the living room now, first of all I was going to show you the Reading Nook. The story that comes with this kit is really funny, and easy to relate to. The trompe l'oeil books have a reason behind them, and so does the tiny seat in front of them. However I forgot to take a photo of it, which is slightly annoying because I've taken photos of everything. I'll do it tomorrow.
The story for the daybed is also delightful, as is the finished daybed itself. Couldn't you just snuggle up on it and doze? As usual with a kit from the Betterleys, the artwork is delicate, detailed and beautiful, like the kit itself.

Here it is without the cushions on it, so you can see the details more easily.

This is true also of the side table. In the half inch (1:24) scale version the drawer opens, but in the

quarter scale (1:48) size it doesn't. The artwork however includes the drawer lining and the little extras to go into the drawer, so I will use these on the desk. Look at this side view. It has more artwork on it, and see how delicate the legs are.
Now we will pause for a moment to admire the beds for La-dee-dah (the cat) and for Miss Lydia Pickett (the dog). She owns the people in the house.

And in this closer view you will see that she has left a couple of her favourite doggy biscuits there for a snack later on.

Just around the corner from the living room, in the hallway, is the apothecary chest. This is a sweet piece of furniture
and was a lot of fun to make up. The story for it is related to the story of the two benches on the front porch. I love the 'something extra' in the form of two little boxes that were provided to cover and put on top of it. I debated whether to put them one on top of the other but that would not have shown both to their best advantage so I've put them separately. In between I hope I've left room for either a vase of flowers or a small lamp.
And here is the shelf that goes above the chest. I haven't added the plates yet, when I do I will show you. Or maybe not :)! The smallest of them are soooo tiny, and I don't have a punch that small so I've been putting off trying to cut them out. Hope I don't totally mess them up
Upstairs in the Studio is the Artist's Storage Cabinet, where Mum has all her craft things organised. Remember how I set it on fire? Well, after a bit of patching, painting and glueing, this is what it looked like.

Yes, you are quite right - one of the frame surrounds around a small door is missing. And after adding the artwork it looked just lovely. Then, as instructed, I filled it with 'stuff'.
In miniatures, the mini person has to be rather untidy so that we can see what is in the various drawers and containers, otherwise everything would be very boring and uninteresting, and the scene wouldn't look 'lived in' at all. So with the addition of all the window seat, rolls of fabric, spools of ribbon and lace, the boxes and the little crates filled with 'stuff' (most of it provided in the kit) it now looks like a busy crafter's area, doesn't it? Notice the sewing machine, all threaded and ready to go?

Did you notice that there are 5 crates instead of 6? that's because people like to bump my worktable and knock things over. Even things in containers get spilled. The crates have landed on the floor so many times I've lost count. One morning I found that one had disappeared. A week later I found just one side on the floor so apparently it met with a sad end under someone's foot! And no, the men in my house (husband, son and nephew) do not notice if they feel something little under their feet - they just crunch away. Like with the greenhouse. And yes, I did hunt, and hunt, and crawl everywhere on my hands and knees looking for it.
To finish our tour for today, let's step outside again and have a look at Miss Lydia Pickett's doghouse. It is pretty special, with its trim reflecting that of the house itself, and even a windvane on the roof.
And at the back there is more gingerbread trim, plus a sweet little oval window, just like the oval window in the house. How special is that?!
And if you could look inside you would see that it has this lovely carpet, showing what a very special dog Miss Lydia Pickett is!

Still to show you: Emma's bedroom and Robbie's bedroom, and the kitchen. I can hardly wait to show you - they are so gorgeous! And of course, the bathroom screen and the Reading Nook. So - till next time (probably tomorrow - but now it is nearly midnight) -

Wow! I'm overwhelmed. So many gorgeous pieces!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I loved the tour.
Sorry I can't help you with the verification problem. I scarcely find my way around computers, which is mostly by trial and error.
Hugs
Drora thanks for looking, and the number of pieces is why I haven't shown all of them to you at once. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the tour.
DeleteHugs, Sandie
Wow Sandie I am speechless! The furniture are so beautiful! Super job!
ReplyDeleteA big hug from Germany,
Sonja
Thank you Sonja. Everything by the Betterleys or by Suzanne & Andrew is gorgeous, and it is not hard to get good results. The artwork details make it all especially pretty. Hugs, Sandie
DeleteThese minis are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBye Faby
You know what Faby, I am really surprised at how much better they look in real life even than in the photos. I wish I could just bring you all on a real life tour! Hugs, Sandie
DeleteBeautiful work!!
ReplyDeleteI love the little doghouse sooo much :-)
Hugs Jollie
Isn't it special Jollie? Who would have thought of a little mat in the doghouse :) Or a cupola and windvane? Thanks very much for looking! Hugs, Sandie
DeleteSo tiny but gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThey are tiny, Eliana, but every detail has been planned so carefully by the Betterleys, and with Robin being an artist in her own right the artwork is just gorgeous. Hugs, Sandie
DeleteWow, wow, wow! So many wonderfully tiny and beautiful things. The dog biscuits are just fantastic! :D
ReplyDeleteAren't they special? They are meant to go in a Christmas stocking (not shown) but I couldn't keep them just for Christmas! There are lots more to go in the stocking and I thought Miss Lydia deserved some throughout the year as well :) Hugs Sandie
DeleteOh Sandie, everything is so beautiful and the details are amazing. I can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't be any help with the word verification. It drives me mad trying to figure out the letters to put a comment. Why oh why does blogger have to change things? Here goes with the word jumble on this comment! Hugs, Vicki x
Think I've fixed that annoying problem now, thanks to Jennifer.
DeleteThanks for looking Vicki, it is exciting for me too to see this project come together. I just love seeing each piece of furniture finished off, with the artwork added, knobs on (yes, I do that now lol) and its added to the collection. I just have to wait for orders to arrive so I can fill the kitchen cupboards and the Coop and all the furniture kits I have so far are finished.
Thank you so much for sharing !
ReplyDeleteI wrote a really snarky post yesterday about the codes but erased it ,because I'm pretty sure that Dear Mr. blogger doesn't read my blog- but they drive me crazy! I'll dig around for a bit, because they definitely make you think twice before commenting.
Oh no, do horehound drops hurt dogs- because she just ate one!
What are horehound drops? I'll check out your blog and see whether your codes have gone, and let you know.
DeleteSandie
It won't let me post the link , but if you google " remove word verification from blogger" it shows you.
ReplyDeleteWhoo Hoo!! Did it! I have been googling but *remove word verification from blogger comments* and somehow not getting the same results - and when I tried on the settings from dashboard I went straight to comments instead of through settings then comments from there. Hope it has worked - please let me know! Thank you so much Jennifer!!!
DeleteWow Sandie, your lydia Pickett furniture is simply beautiful.I have had to look at them all so many times now.
ReplyDeleteI love them all. You are so clever making these tiny pieces. I wish i had your talent and patience.
Helen
Helen, thank you for looking at my blog and becoming a follower. And I appreciate your comments. Betterley furniture is not hard to make beautiful - it has everything supplied to do so! Your work is stunning and it is all from scratch, so far more impressive.
DeleteHugs, Sandie
Wow, you have been so busy and they all look soooo good.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've been doing them for quite a while now, pretty well all the time I've been doing the house, because I want to have most if not all of the furniture ready to put in the house when it is completed. I love the way that there is a whole set of just about everything you need to put in the house, all especially designed for it.
DeleteHugs, Sandie.
Just to let you know, I was able to post without the verification coming up :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know - it's reassuring that it has worked :)
DeleteSon unos muebles fantásticos y muy detallados.
ReplyDeleteBravo!
Un abrazo
Thank you Rosamargarita, I'm so pleased you like them - but as I've said, with this furniture it's not hard because the kits are so well designed and the artwork is so delicious.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sandie
They're sooooo cute.
ReplyDeleteThey are, aren't they Norma? Glad you like them too. You might see them 'in the flesh' at the Sydney Fair this year :) I am looking forward to the arrival of the next batch of furniture kits, I can't wait to see them in place in the house. Hugs, Sandie
DeleteWow Sandra you are working your way through these so fast and so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI know I keep on saying it but I really must pull my finger out and get some work done on Pickett Hill!
hugs
Claire x
Claire, seeing your lovely Pickett Hill while I was still doing the Sea Shanty was one of the things that finally persuaded me that I 'had' to give in and buy it! Your finished house is lovely, and I am looking forward to seeing it furnished and landscaped. As we discussed in the email, you could put your base onto the Suzanne & Andrew's one to get more room, and use their landscaping kit to finish the garden. Or else add to the base you have to make it larger. But you have a beautiful house. Hugs, Sandie
