A few more photos....

Some Pickett Hill furniture

As I mentioned before, I have completed quite a lot of the furniture for Pickett Hill. Come with me on a tour. Let's start with this gorgeous set for the portico. It has a 'glass' -topped table and side table, and the four chairs are really delicate and pretty. When I saw the advertisement for this set I didn't know whether I liked the animals on the back of the seats but I did like the rest of the set. Once I saw the pieces 'in the flesh' I absolutely loved them! And now they are constructed I love them even more.
At first I was going to set it all out on the portico, but the carpet is rather curled and it wouldn't straighten, so I set everything out in front to give you a bit of an idea.

Staying with the 'outside' theme, here are the benches for the front porch. The very tall porch bench,

The not-so-tall porch bench,

Both of them together without their cushions,
And again, with their cushions. Don't they look comfy? Just right to curl up on and enjoy a good book or just dream the afternoon away.
And here is the Wardian Case. After taking the photos it is obvious that the paint needs a bit of a touch-up. I will add some greenery inside this before placing it in its final position, since they were used as indoor terrarium-type objects.

Now we have moved indoors, your tour continues with a visit to the dining room. As I mentioned, the Coop is assembled ready for objects to be placed inside it so the doors can be put on and the Coop closed up. But here is the dining table along with the chairs.

Each of the chairs has a different design on the padded backs. There is a matching flower on the front and back of each chair, and six different flowers. I padded the backs of my chairs before putting the fabric on them, and padded the seats too. I wanted the dimensional look that it gave.

Here is a close-up of the front of one of the chairs,

And one of the back

This is another kit that I wasn't sure about when I saw the photos. I wondered whether the legs were too 'clunky'. But I have faith in Suzanne & Andrew, so again I went ahead and ordered it. Once the first chair was made up I was definitely in love! The photos just do not do quarter scale items justice at times, and these are prime examples. The chairs are delightful. They are really unusual, but really suit the room and the house.

Now your tour is over for today. Next time we will look at the girl's bedroom, the boy's bedroom, items for the living room, artist's studio and bathroom, and perhaps the kitchen - though I have to decide whether to put 'real' things in the cupboards or use the printies that are supplied. Apart from filling the cupboards it is nearly completed.

Until then -

  1. Hello Sandra, I'm sorry that I didn't answer right away, but real life kept me very very busy!!Family matters...
But here I am....admiring your very beautiful dollhouse Picket Hill and the furniture. This is gorgeous, but what scale? (I'm used to centimeters;)) A quarter scale is...1:48 or?? I see that your fingers seem very big ;) to the small furniture. I hope you know what I mean, my knowledge of the English language is not that good. Speaking:yes, but grammar and writing :(
I like the color green you used too, very delicate color for such a beautiful house. Where did you buy the furniture, in Australia? Australia seems to me a very beautiful variagated(?) continent; I hope I'll see it ever, but I think that its not possible:too far away......its a pity. Now I am travelling in bloggerland and I come everywhere :)
So, now I leave you (for a while) after I wish you a very great week.Hugs, Ilona

    1. Hello Ilona, it's lovely to 'hear' from you. Yes, quarter inch scale is 1:48 scale. One quarter inch is about 6mm. And your English is fine - my fingers are certainly big compared to the furniture, I wanted to show you how tiny these pieces are. I love the green too, it is very pretty - it is called Wedgewood Green.

The furniture is available from Suzanne & Andrews (andrewsmini.com) who worked with the Betterleys to design the house, and who made the furniture specifically for the house. Although of course it is perfect for other houses too.

    1. Vicki, anything put out by the Betterleys or Suzanne and Andrews has great detail. A lot of the later kits have a 'little something extra' too, some extra bits to make up. And many of the pieces have the most charming stories about how the pieces came to be - which I will copy and put into the scrapbooking pages about this house.

  4. Hello Sandra, I have put this morning a long comment on your blog, but don't see it any more. Its just like the other comment of mine some time ago: nothing to see. Now I'll try again. Will you let me know if it arrived? My emailadress is on my right sidebar now, at the top. The new kind of word-verificationa causes some trouble, I also saw this on other blogs. Perhaps it is the cause of to get no comments on your blog??

    1. Hi Ilona, the reason you didn't see your comment straight away was that your comment came in at 3am my time and comments aren't published until I look at and approve them. When you write your comment you should see a message that says it will be published after approval by the blog owner. I agree with you about the new kind of word-verification, it seems unnecessary to me too. But don't worry, when someone makes a comment I get an email and if I approve it, it gets published. Hugs, Sandie.
