G'day Sharon, so lovely that you have signed on as a follower of the blog - thank you very much indeed!  We have been talking quite a bit lately and I really appreciate the nice things you have said about my work.  I am so pleased that you enjoy visiting here.  I have enjoyed getting to 'know' you a bit better recently.

Sharon does the most wonderful kits in 1:48th scale.   You can find her work  here.  At the moment I am waiting for the arrival of the Country Comfort Bed & Breakfast cottage kit from her.  It is such a sweet little house and I look forward to adding it to my collection.  I already have several furniture kits from Sharon and am really pleased with all of them.

It is always such a pleasure to see that someone else has joined as a follower.  It is so rewarding to know that people are interested in the little projects I do and your encouragement means so much to me.  Thank you all, my friends, for your support.  It is so motivating to to see that you have visited and especially to receive your feedback.

Azaelia in our garden

Real life has taken up pretty well all of my time lately.  My mother has been in hospital for the last three weeks, quite ill with an infection, along with her chronic breathing difficulties and her congestive heart failure.  It is quite a drive to get to the hospital so takes several hours out of the day.  It is difficult to see her degenerate mentally as a result of being so ill and I have to come to terms with the fact that she is 88 and has so many problems and probably won't be here all that much longer so I am emotionally drained by it all.

I have however been doing some petitpoint when I am able to do so, working on birthday items for our birthday swap group on Phoenix_Makesminis and the lucky message prize for Miniature_Haven.  I will post a photo of the gorgeous little crocheted doily and jug cover that I received for my prize for winning the lucky message.

Elizabeth I spent ages looking through your wonderful blog (http://studioe.blogspot.com.au).  I really like the way you have achieved different levels of brightness with your lighting - the room looks fantastic.  The littlle knitting bag is wonderfully done and adds a great little touch as do all the details on the desk, they are certainly highlighted to perfection with the desk lamp.  I haven't ever tried the metal strip lighting, I was advised right at the beginning to use hard wiring for my lighting but I still empathise with your lighting difficulties and admire you patience.

Hannelore - your lavender shop will be so well stocked.  You are making so many lovely items for it and the detail in each one is just beautiful.  Even looking at photos on your blog I can almost smell the sweet lavender perfumes (http://hannelore-meinminiwelt.blogspot.com)

Yolanda (http://arteyolandamoranminiaturas.blogspot.com.es) I am impressed with your upholstery skills and also love the way you fill your cupboards with little details.  Even if the doors and drawers are closed it is special to know that when you open them there are little surprises inside.  Your house is looking great.

I visited Emily's blog 'The French Hutch' this morning and became a Follower.  And now she has returned and become a Follower here - thank you for visiting Emily, I hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of a different kind of miniatures to the sort you collect.  I loved seeing your French miniatures and the porcelain ones, as well as the French-inspired decorating you have in your home.  Your garden is beautiful as well.  As I said in my comment to you, I mainly do a slightly different kind of miniatures, concentrating on making and decorating them myself.  However, I do also have a couple of little 'collectables' as well.

I hope your visit has piqued your interest and that you will pop back and visit again every so often to see what is going on in my world of miniatures.  I will certainly enjoy seeing what is happening in your world.

And now friends, we have 194 followers so I am working on that carpet.  Today I will try to finish off the background of the first quarter and post a photo to give you an idea of what it will look like.  It is a William Morris-inspired design charted by Sue Bakker, in pretty pinks, greens, gold and cream on a blue background.  Hope you like it! 

Hello Carra - and now we are 193!

So sorry I haven't been around, friends!  I did have bronchitis after Peter's birthday party, then Kylie and the two boys came and stayed for a week.  I was behind in preparing my competition entry for Miniature Haven because of the bronchitis and having been away so I've been frantically trying to finish that off.  Closing date is tonight at midnight UK time, and it is past midnight here in Aus so it is Sunday in UK but not yet closing time.  I've just sent off the photos, even though some of the items I wanted to include aren't quite finished and I didn't include them.  I had to improvise a bit but I'm happy to have been able to put in an entry anyway.

I thought I'd just check the blog since I was on the net and what a pleasant surprise to see that Carra has joined us!  Welcome Carra, I apologize for being so tardy in thanking you for becoming a Follower.  I do hope you will enjoy your visits here and leave lots of feedback.  It is just lovely to hear from others and to receive comments.  My husband gets that glazed look or gives a 'hmm that's nice'.  We share most things and I would love to be able to share my interest with him, but at least I have my miniaturist friends all over the world.

I couldn't find a link for you Carra, if you have a blog please let me know - I'd really like to visit you too.

And Carra makes 193 - only 7 more to go for the 200 Followers giveaway!  Things have really slowed down, but I started to stitch a petitpoint carpet in 1:12th scale (for the giveaway) while I was unwell.  Didn't get very far with it but now will concentrate on it and post a photo soon.  Now just have to decide on the 1:48th scale item/s.  I know some people wanted flowers, so it might be those again unless there are other suggestions.

And now it is 1am here in Aus, and time for one weary possum to toddle off to bed!  Hoo-roo, will talk to you soon.  And yes, when the competition is over I will share photos with you too.

I really like to have a look at the blogs that people follow.  Often I get quite carried away in following through on those links, and discover wonderful sites that I otherwise would never know about.  I'm always amazed and intrigued by the range of skills and interests that other miniaturists have, and it's so inspiring to see the work of so many talented people.  Our hobby is wonderful because it allows the expression of so many aspects of the art.  No-one need to feel that there is no niche for them, whether it be needlework, clay, papercraft, woodwork, construction, design, porcelain - you name it, there is scope for it in miniatures.  Isn't it great?!

It was so nice to open 'Snippets' this morning after not looking at it for a week and to find that the three of you had signed on as the newest followers - a very warm welcome to each of you!  Thank you for joining our mini community; I do hope you are enjoying browsing through the different posts.  As you will quickly find out, I really love quarter scale buildings.  Most of the posts on here are about my quarter scale projects.  But there are other things I enjoy as well: miniature petitpoint, 1:12th scale minis, and 1:24th scale.  I also have quite a few things in 1:144th scale though I haven't done many of them or posted about them.


None of you have said whether or not you have a blog, so if you want to post a link to that it would be great!  I'd love to visit and see what you are up to.  I really appreciate the way the internet brings us together to share our love of miniatures no matter where we live right around the world.

Welcome to 'Pretty Made's Fancy', the newest follower and member of our mini community here.  What a nice name to have for your blog - I will certainly be visiting again, it looks fascinating.  I really like the bed you have made.

I promised that I would also mention your giveaway on my blog and it is a great one!  Even though it will be drawn tomorrow (1st May) there is still time to enter.  It consists of two lovely components, a pretty veil

And also the bouquet shown in the photo below.  Aren't they lovely?  They'd certainly look good in my Bridal shop, that's for sure!  Though I am never fortunate when it comes to entering give-aways.  But I try.  One day maybe.

Today was my "baby's" birthday.  He was 23.  It is only yesterday that I was posting about him turning 22, and the memories of the drama of his birth 13 weeks early are still fresh in all our minds.  The 17 weeks that followed with him in NICU, undergoing 7 operations on his brain are also fresh in our mind, and again we give thanks to our Lord that He had His hand over Nathan all the way through.  Nathan went through many crises during that time and the next ten years, and he is truly a miracle child - well, I can't say child any more, can I lol?  We are more grateful than I could ever express for the joy our children have brought into our lives, including him.  And today was a chance for us to remember how fortunate we are, even though it was spent preparing for our trip.

I promise that I'll post some photos of the house soon - it was going to be tonight, but it is now midnight and time for bed.
