A dream come true........

Way back when Fiona (Bea) Broadwood started putting out her half scale houses and I saw them in a miniature magazine I fell in love with them.  I wasn't even on the internet then and when I was finally connected and found the online Petite Properties group called The Miniature Beehive I was delighted.  By this stage Bea was just starting to release her quarter scale kits for buildings along similar lines, and I started to buy these.  I had no chance of visiting the UK to buy one of her wonderful halfscale creations, which are sold at fairs on a first-come-first- served basis.  But I have always continued to dream that some day, some how, I would manage to find a way to actually get one.

And now - that dream has come true!  One of the members of The Beehive, Caroline, has to downsize her collection and posted that she was selling 'Dandelion Cottage' made by Bea herself and bought by Caroline at Miniatura in 2012.  It comes with a greenhouse complete with potting bench, both also made by Bea.

Isn't it gorgeous?  Bea added some flower pots to the front of the house.
Inside, Caroline has added doors and skirting boards, a fireplace by Sue Cook and a fire grate.
Inside the greenhouse there is the potting bench by Bea, gardening tools by Willow Crafts, Flowers by Jan Southerton, the Flower Lady and two plant pots and window boxes by Clive Brooker.
To the side you can see a watering can and lawn mower by Willow Crafts and a water pump by Little Homes of England.

I am delighted to have these treasures as well. There's no way I have access to some of  these craftspeople or even knew about them. I gather Caroline probably bought the items at a fair, so they are extra special too.   I'm so pleased to be able to obtain all of the collection and to keep it together, and Caroline is also pleased that it won't be split up.  It will be collected by the courier tomorrow and I will be counting the hours until its arrival.  It isn't cheap to have something sent from the UK but well worth it to obtain one of Bea's masterpieces.

Happy, happy dance going on here - such a happy miniature collector I am!

    1. I most certainly will Vicki, you know how we feel down here when we read about those wonderful fairs in the UK. One day I might make it over there in person, but to have this opportunity to own one of Bea's houses now is just soooooo exciting! Hugs, Sandie

    2. That would be lovely Sandra. Actually, I have a little something set aside for you should you head north again. I was not able to travel when you were at Yarrahapinni last or I'd have delivered in person.

    3. How nice Susan, I actually have a little something that was for when I had planned to visit you too. Different things happened at that time that meant we didn't make the visit but I haven't forgotten!

  5. How wonderful Sandra, I can see why you are so very very happy, it's just gorgeous. I can imagine the freight not cheap as you say but it's bargain basement compared to the airfare ;) It's so nice to see that good things can happen to good people, you certainly deserve to have this little cottage to gladden your heart.

    1. What a nice thing to say Norma - thank you! You are so sweet to say so. You are absolutely right about the freight being a bargain compared to the airfare too - but I still dream of one day visiting a Miniatura in person ;) This cottage will certainly gladden my heart whether I get to go eventually or not.

  6. So nice. I can see why you are counting down the days. My mum is currently visiting the UK and I was very tempted to give her a giant list of things for her to bring home. Instead though she has been visiting dollhouse shops whilst there to bring me back a surprise. It will be interesting to see what she chooses. IndyPoppy

    1. Glad you like the colours, but I didn't choose them - Bea did when she made the cottage and the greenhouse. Hope you have a happy summer - it is winter here but fortunately for us we have quite mild winters compared to some parts of the world so I am enjoying being out in the garden when I am able to get out in the sunshine and do some planting in my new garden around the studio.

  8. Hi Sandra! I love your little house and the exterior is Packed with personality! I especially enjoy the cracked plaster finish and the subdued colors and the Door with the window and the surface trims. Your house looks like it has been around a long time and that is always a Plus for me. Congratulations and enjoy this little beauty and like the Disney song says " A dream is a Wish your heart makes, and the dreams that you wish will come true!"
