What a shame.....

........ to dull that lovely blue paint of the shingles with the ‘dirty’ wash, but it looks more natural I guess. Far from pristine but certainly not decrepit either. Just quite weathered. I am undecided as to whether I was too heavy handed though.....

The trim is on the roof, the roof is on, and I put a 'ridge cap' over the join of the tin roofing at the ridge as well.  The window boxes are attached as is the verandah and a little step and the shutters.  All the little details that took a long time today. And it has all received the weathering treatment. Except for the area under the verandah roof. I figured I could get away with leaving that pristine since it would be ‘protected’ by the roof.

On the verandah are two ‘planters’ made from a barrel sawn in two. Mrs McGregor will soon be planting some geraniums in those, I think! Her green thumb will be very apparent in the beautiful plants that have kept her busy during Capt’n McGregor’s long absences at sea before he retired.

Inside, the trim is on around the windows but I have held off attaching the trim around the door and around the floor until the flooring papers arrive. The windows don’t come through the walls all the way, and in the kitchen I wanted to have it a bit neater so I boxed it in and put in a window sill so I can sit a plant or something on it. It looks pretty good I think.

Peter was sleeping after working last night and I got all of that done while waiting for him to wake up, in between doing the washing and other bits and pieces. So I feel quite pleased all round.
